Tua Tagovailoa has still not been extended by the Dolphins brass, but says he will definitely be at OTA’s.
“I’m letting my agent deal with that, talk to the team about that. Go to OTAs, show up and be the best teammate I can be,” Tua said.
Some Dolphins fans will likely be happy that the Dolphins haven’t backed up the money-truck to Tua Tagovailoa’s house as the hate is still real. There’s no doubt he still has things he needs to prove, but there’s also no doubt Miami need to sign him.
Tua Tagovailoa working hard in off-season
It’s no secret the Dolphins asked Tua to gain weight last off-season to limit injuries, and it’s no secret that he looked slow at times with that extra weight when he went to run. This off-season, Tua’s looking to lose some of that weight and also improve on his technique.
“I‘ve had many goals,” Tagovailoa said of his offseason, from a football perspective. “I’ve hit a couple. There are very specific things. Am I going to share it? Probably not. I want to keep that between me and John, but I have a quarterback coach; I am working with John Beck.”
“This definitely feels like home to me,” he said of South Florida. “This is where both of my kids were born, where we are going to raise my family, with me and Annah. This is the city that chose me to be their quarterback. I’m very grateful, honored for that.”
Tua is saying all the right things about staying in Miami, continuing to develop and being a good teammate. But Dolphins fans will remember that Christian Wilkins did all those things as well and GM Chris Grier never did get that deal done.
It’s also no secret that head coach Mike McDaniel loves Tua Tagovailoa. It’s also no secret that he comes from a coaching tree that prizes system about QB’s. It’s a sytem that can win with Jared Goff, Brock Purdy, and Jimmy Garropolo at the helm.
So while Tua Tagovailoa has proven he’s worthy of that extension, Dolphins fans should be hoping this deal gets done quick so the team can get down to winning some playoff games.
