New York Jets (H) – Our Predictions

The Miami Dolphins are betting favourites ahead of a game for the first time since Week 16 of the 2018 season today, ahead of welcoming the New York Jets to Hard Rock Stadium. That fact alone is strange, when bearing in mind the Fins have won seven times since then but were obviously not expected to win. That there shows the character of Brian Flores’ team.

Too right we should be favourites against these New York Jets too, they’re awful. We know first hand what a team that has quit on Adam Gase looks like, heck players even tried taking themselves out of games to intentionally lose in the 2016 playoff campaign. This Jets side sits 0-5 on this young season and will be without supposed ‘franchise saviour’ Sam Darnold in this matchup.

Us at Aqua Thirteen every week put together our predictions ahead of a matchday, so here are our New York Jets (H) Predictions.

Shane – The favorites tag doesn’t usually sit well with the Dolphins but I expect them to earn a win against the New York Jets. The Dolphins just have more playmakers on both sides of the ball. The Jets have struggled to get going this year and just released possibly their best offensive weapon.

Whilst Jamison Crowder is a legitimate threat, if he can be locked down I think the Jets will struggle to score TDs. In Parker, Williams, and Gesicki the Dolphins have big offensive weapons that suit Ryan Fitzpatrick to a tee. I see their big-play ability leading the Dolphins to a hard-earned win. 27-16 Dolphins.

Jay – This is probably the prediction I’m dreading the most all season. Fresh off the back of one of the best performances in years against a team that is arguably the worst in the league all things point to a slaughter… but this is the Dolphins! The Jets have hardly any weapons on offense and if the Dolphins defense play like they did against San Fransisco and lockdown Crowder I can’t see them putting much on the board.

As long as Fitz can emulate a magic rather than tragic performance and we can keep Parker and Williams healthy there is some huge big-play potential. I can see Brieda and Gaskin both accruing some decent yardage and if the offense starts out like they did last week then this game has the potential to blow up! 38-13 Dolphins

Rich – Traditionally, we could point to these moments where we feel like we should win, only to disappoint. These days, though, there is a steel to the Dolphins and a real feeling of progressive improvement, game on game, week on week. Having got ourselves in this position – a win would take us to 3-3 before the bye – I can’t see the Dolphins taking their eye off this one.

We’ll dominate them at the line, with Joe Flacco not being mobile and will swallow him up repeatedly when he has few available options open due to their poor receiver options and our excellent coverage ceiling. We have a host of weapons on offense that have enough big-play potential to put enough points on the board. The game will be beyond doubt into the fourth quarter and we may even see a little of Tua! Dolphins win at a canter, 35-7.

Gareth – I think this will be a good test for Flores. His team are more talented, in form, and expected to win but can he keep his team focused? Something which has been the standard of winning New England teams. I think we’ll win handsomely. The message of one day a week will come into play. I’m hoping we win 40-0 but more realistically Miami Dolphins 28-10 New York Jets.

Me – While all my fellow writers seem convinced we’ll win by loads, football ain’t always that easy and we are likely to be missing a key piece of our defensive puzzle in Kyle Van Noy. If we can start fast and get out in front I’m certain the Dolphins will beat the New York Jets, but that may not be the case.

Theoretically, this Fins team should be too talented to lose to a Jets side that are in a tailspin. If the Dolphins are the seven, eight, or even nine-win team we think they could be, this game HAS to be won. Let’s try and get the run game going eh? I think it will be more low scoring than people think, let’s go for a 23-16, Miami Dolphins win.

Andy – The New York Jets have been one of the worst teams this season and Miami are improving week by week. The Miami Dolphins have the chance to add another nail in the Adam Gase New York Jets’ coffin with a win at the Hard Rock Stadium. The Dolphins’ best performance of the season will give the team lots of confidence going into this game. I am going for a 23-10 Miami win.
