Ryan Fitzpatrick will probably suit up for the Miami Dolphins once again coming in for Tua Tagovailoa, who is doubtful with a thumb injury on his throwing hand. If the Miami Dolphins are to make the playoffs then they are going to need to win these next two games, if not it’s probably not going to happen. The 0-10 New York Jets will welcome them to Met Life Stadium in their second matchup this season.
Last time we met Joe Flacco was the starting QB in a 24-0 loss to the Fins. That won’t be the case this week however, as Sam Darnold makes his return to the starting lineup. He’ll be joined by second-round pick Denzel Mims who has had a good start to his young career. A few offensive linemen are either questionable or out, so that may make Darnold’s return harder. One thing that we do know is that he’ll be out there to prove a point. Not only to the New York Jets but also any new suitors should they draft Trevor Lawrence.
The Dolphins will need to do something else on both offense and defense having been found out seven days ago in that loss to the Denver Broncos. I did an opponent profile on the New York Jets yesterday and I really don’t understand how with that talent they’re winless. Adam Gase and poor coaching is my guess because they are better than us in some areas. This isn’t going to be the massive win everyone expects.

Shane – I have confidence in the Miami Dolphins defense to force turnovers once again in this game and make the job easier for the offense. I think we’ll see a bit more fight from the Jets with Darnold possibly back at the helm but don’t think they have enough firepower on offense and their secondary looks a bit suspect. With Fitz at QB, big days from DeVante Parker and Mike Gesicki could go a long way to a Miami victory. I think the Dolphins win this one. Miami Dolphins 27-17 New York Jets.
Jay – Last week was a trap game for the Dolphins but regardless of which QB starts on either side I still see the Dolphins winning. We have a lot of injuries on the offensive side of the call but I don’t see the Jets defense causing us too many problems. Early pressure on Darnold and getting in front early should see a win. Miami Dolphins 27-10 New York Jets.
Rich – Whether it’s Fitz or Tua at QB this week, the Dolphins must win this game if our playoffs hopes are to continue. The Jets have been so bad this season that you have to hope, even with Sam Darnold returning from a shoulder injury, that Miami has too much for New York in all the key matchups. We shut them out last time, so I think you’ll see a relatively low-scoring game with our good special teams play giving us good field position to work with. We have enough talented offensive players to turn red zone possession into points against their average secondary. Dolphins stay in the playoff hunt. Miami Dolphins 24-13 New York Jets
Andy – We were confident of a win last weekend but sadly this didn’t work out. The Jets represent an easy win on paper but this could be a trap game, just as it was for the Jets when they became the first team to lose to the Fins last season. However, by not firing Gase, the Jets backroom staff are clearly tanking and I can see nothing else but a Dolphins win here. If Tua starts then I can see him having a bounce-back game. If he is not healthy, then Fitz is a capable replacement and will guide Miami to victory. Miami Dolphins 20-7 New York Jets
Gareth – The interesting thing about this game is that Fitz gives us a higher chance of losing IMO. The defense will no doubt cause a turnover or two but the question will be how much does Fitz have to force the ball. We are missing our No1 and No2 RB’s who weren’t particularly great themselves. The last time we played them Fitz wasn’t great and the defense and ST won the game for us. I expect the same today. Miami Dolphins 20-10 New York Jets
Me – I’m torn, part of me thinks we’ll bounce back and put down the Jets, but the other part of me is skeptical. We may indeed lose this game, as the Jets lost to us last year. It’s kind of a good job that Tua is injured because as we saw with Justin Herbert last week, Gregg Williams could have killed him. DVP and Gesicki may have big games, as they have great chemistry with Fitz. I’m interested to see who gets the bulk of the carries out of Breida, Laird, and Washington. I think it’ll be very close.
