This past Sunday the Miami Dolphins and defensive LB Jerome Baker agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension worth up to $39 million ($28.4 million guaranteed). Baker was taken in the 3rd round of the 2018 NFL draft and has a total of 317 combined tackles, along with 11.5 sacks, and two interceptions in his career so far.  The energy Baker is known for bringing to the Dolphins on the defensive end, and his amusing personality has without a doubt made him a fan favorite amongst many Dolphins fans.

JEROME BAKER A DOLPHIN FOR LIFE?

Jerome Baker’s deal with Miami comes a day after he revealed that he wants to play for the Dolphins for his entire career, and it’s safe to say that Dolphins’ fans would be more than thrilled to see that possibility become a reality.  2020 was a productive season for the 24-year-old linebacker, having played in all 16 matchups, and starting in 11 of them.

Baker recorded 112 combined tackles, two forced fumbles, and seven sacks, his most outstanding highlight from 2020 comes from the 1st quarter during Week 14’s matchup against the Chiefs, where his sack on QB Patrick Mahomes resulted in a 4th & 42.

With Miami losing a couple of key vocal leaders on the defensive end like Van Noy and McCain, it would be awesome to see Jerome embrace the opportunity Infront of him and lead the defensive in ways he hasn’t done before. We are 13 weeks away from the return of Dolphins football and the anticipation is growing stronger by the day.
