Jaelan Phillips was selected with the 18th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. At the time a lot of pundits, prognosticators, and normals desperately wanted Najee Harris. However, Phillips is slowing proving all those doubters wrong.

After retiring when he was in college at UCLA after suffering multiple concussion, Phillips moves to first the U and then the Dolphins have catapulted his career into a burgeoning NFL Star. At the same time Harris, after two seasons in the NFL is averaging only 3.8 yards per carry.

In his first two seasons in the league Jaelan Phillips has 20 sacks and 123 total pressures. His performances have been impressive, and his win rate for a second year player is mighty impressive.

Dolphins Defensive Line coach Austin Clark had this to say about Phillips, “Every down or every week, it’s going to be different. And I think what Jaelen does a good job of is buying in and really feeding on the role that’s given to him each week. In that game, that was his job. He finished a play and was able to get him a sack, so we’re definitely excited for him for that.”

JAELAN PHILLIPS PICK OF THE BUNCH IN WEEK 1

In a game where the Dolphins defence was largely on the back foot, Phillips stood out as the stud off the edge. Registering 7 pressures, 1 sack, and 7 tackles. It was an immense performance from Phillips and is an ominous message to the QB’s the Dolphins will face the rest of the way.
