The Dolphins blew out the Commanders in Washington in conditions that Miami fans used to pretend were hard for Tua Tagovailoa. Clearly, and thankfully, those days of looking for excuses are behind us and we get to enjoy one of the NFL’s most explosive offences in history.
So what did we learn from the game? Let’s take a look with our takeaways from the game.
DOLPHINS OFFENCE BACK ON TRACK
There have been some down weeks from the Dolphins offence of late, but this game saw them get back on track. Racking up another 400+ yard game and another 45 points. It’s no coincidence that it game the same week as they returned to a much more balanced approach, and there was the early big play TD to take the pressure off.
With 25 passes, and 34 rushes, the Dolphins again proved that balance is the best way to get things done.
TYREEK HILL IS ON TRACK FOR MVP
On a night that saw Hill rack up 157-yards and 2 scores on 5 catches it was plain to see why he’s getting so many MVP nods. On the season he has a staggering 525 yards of YAC, 21 missed tackles forced, and a staggering 4.02 yards per route run (per pff). For reference Brandon Aiyuk (3.17) is the only other receiver over 3 yards!
It’s a staggering season from the Dolphins star WR, and looks set to become the NFL’s first ever 2,000 yard receiver. While Tua has been great, it’s hard to argue that Hill hasn’t been better. It’s a monumental season and one worth savouring.
HC Mike McDaniel was oozing with praise after the game. “You’re seeing the best selves of both players while playing together,” said McDaniel. “Tua’s able to be super aggressive in certain windows because he trusts what Tyreek is going to do. Tyreek is able to be super aggressive because he trusts Tua’s field vision.”
