The Miami Dolphins traded a 2025 3rd round pick to select Jaylen Wright with the 120th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Wright is a rapid, talented back who could be a three-down back with good pass-blocking skills and the ability to break any run. Of his 367 runs at Tennessee, 71 of them were longer than 10 yards and 32 of them over 15 yards. PFF.com ranked him as third best RB in the class.
Wright could be Dolphins feature back in a couple of seasons
PFF had this to say of him, “Wright is an NFL-caliber athlete. His youth is both a positive (lack of mileage) and a negative (lack of consistent RB vision), but he has succeeded in gap- and zone-blocking concepts. He also boasts top-tier pass-blocking ability, giving him three-down potential in the NFL.
Dolphins Head Coach Mike McDaniel said, “I think all players benefit. There’s supreme urgency to do right with the ball if you deserve to have it. Yeah, the competition is fierce. I’m fired up because we have a group of competitors that will satisfy the thirst for them. It will be fierce. Depth comes into question each and every year, so you’re always looking for a full roster.”
