The Dolphins came out cold against the Panthers in South Florida, trailing 14-0 after three Panthers possessions. But with 35-unanswered points Miami cruised to a 21 win, leaving the Panthers winless after their first 6 games.
With the Dolphins first two drives being 3-and-out, home town fans would’ve been excused for thinking they had travelled back in time a few years to when this was one of the most potent offences in NFL history. But with 5 touchdowns on their next 6 possessions normal service was quickly restored.
DOLPHINS RUNNING ATTACK ON FIRE AGAIN
We all know about the talent on the Dolphins roster in the passing game, but this season has been a revelation with the rushing attack. With rookie De’von Achane out Raheem Mostert had the lion’s share of the carries and he certainly didn’t disappoint, with 115 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground and another 17 yards and a touch through the air.
Coach Mike McDaniel was effusive in his praise for Mostert after the game, “The guy’s hungry for every opportunity, and I think you see his will in the way he runs the ball. Around the goalline, a lot of times, the perfect play doesn’t exist and it’s a battle of wills. He’s not a guy that a lot of people want to tackle.”
Despite getting out to a fast start the Panthers weren’t really in the game in the second half as the Dolphins moved the ball on the ground and threw the air with ease. Panthers HC Frank Reich said, “When they get hot, they’re tough to stop. They’ve got some big-time playmakers. I mean, Tyreek, when he hits that thing running, it looks different, and it feels different. You can watch that on film, but when you feel it on the field, he’s a difference maker.”
