Dolphins fans have been complaining for years about a lack of respect in the national media, and this season about the claims Miami can’t win big games.
As much as there has been some truth in the fact the media has beaten this drum to death, after another loss to the Baltimore Ravens there should also be recognition that this argument is 100% true.
So far Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has won a single game against teams with winning records this season. The previous win was all the way back in week 3 of last season. The only team he has beaten this season? The other team that has only beaten one team with a winning record and has faced the same narrative.
Dolphins only win against Cowboys
Facts are facts, and as much as we want to deny it they still exist. It’s fine beating up on the Broncos and going historic, but following that up with a clubbing at Buffalo should devalue it.
Losing to Philly, and the Chiefs. And now Baltimore.
With one game left in the regular season there is an unmistakeable reality to the Dolphins season.
A team that is 1-4 against teams with a winning record has to win 5 of those games in a row to win the Super Bowl. That’s what the fans have been hyping this team as all season.
So with the Bills coming to down, and the number on seed gone, the Dolphins need to come up with answers this week. Or the task of beating those winning teams will involve 100% road games.
Make no mistake, despite this being Mike McDaniel’s team, and the ludicrous notion that he’s a genius, it’s Vic Fangio’s defence that has kept the Dolphins even remotely competitive in some of those games.
In recent weeks the offence has sputtered through games, and the defence has held the team together. Now the Dolphins need to pull it together on both sides of the ball or this season will be a failure.
