The Miami Dolphins have hired for Baltimore Ravens Assistant Head Coach Anthony Weaver to be their next defensive coordinator after a 10-day search.
Weaver will become the Dolphins third different defensive coordinator in the three-year tenure of head coach Mike McDaniel after Vic Fangio and Josh Boyer.
Dolphins expect much from Weaver
Heat coach Mike McDaniel was effusive in his praise in his statement on the hiring of Weaver, as you would expect.
I am excited to add Anthony to our staff, not only for what he will bring to the Dolphins as a teacher and coach, but even more so who he is as a leader of men,” McDaniel said. “He has a proven resume of success, built on his personal investment in his players. Most importantly, he shares our belief that player development is the cornerstone to both team building and sustained excellence. Through conversations with him and those who have worked with him, it became clear that we have aligned values in football philosophies and coaching.”
Weaver has spent the last three years in Baltimore as defensive line coach, Defensive run game coordinator and assistant head coach. Prior to that he spent five seasons in Houston including serving as the teams defensive coordinator for the 2020 season in which the Texans ranked 32nd for scoring defence and finished the season 4-12.
