Dolphins comeback comes up short 21-14

The Miami Dolphins lost to another team with a winning record, extending their streak to seven as their comeback came up short against the Chiefs.

It was another poor first half against a good team by the Dolphins. Shut out and with no third-down conversions through the first half, it took until half-way through the third for Miami to convert a third down. If not for a stellar defensive performance this game could’ve been very ugly.

DOLPHINS OFFENCE HELD UNDER 21 AGAIN

The Dolphins have failed to top 20 points against teams with a winning record in all three games this season, despite averaging 39 against bad teams they can only average 17 against good teams which won’t win you a lot of games.

Miami scored their first TD of the game on their second possession of the second half, with an 8-play 80-yard touchdown drive, culminating in Tua’s excellent 31 yard pass to Cedrick Wilson.

The Miami Defence pulled them back into the game, forcing a Patrick Mahomes turnover at the Chiefs 27 yard line, with the Dolphins running the ball in with Raheem Mostert from 13 yards to close the score to 21-14. But that was as close as Miami could get.

The Dolphins had one last chance to win the game, after Raheem Mostert gained 25 yards, and then 19 yards on back to back plays to set up Miami at the Chiefs 31 yard line. There followed 3 incompletions and then a wayward snap that Tua couldn’t corral to end the game in a horrific fashion.

Head Coach Mike McDaniel had tried to downplay the importance of the game earlier in the week. However, despite all the good McDaniel has done in Miami he is now 2-6 in games against teams with a winning record in his time in South Florida. And the Chiefs now have a 1.5 game lead over Miami for the AFC’s number 1 seed.
