We can now add the moniker “Rookie Phenom” to De’Von Achane’s name after the former-Aggie put up twi scores and 203 yards rushing, and adding two more scores and 30 yards receiving.
Despite having only 18 carries, Achane had 6 Missed Tackles Forced, 4 runs over 10 years (3 of which went over 15 yards) and broke his best run for a 67 yard touchdown (per PFF).
DON’T SLEEP ON DE’VON ACHANE
De’Von Achane played down his expectations after the game, but there was no hiding the magnitude of what he achieved Sunday, “Me having 200 yards in an NFL game, that’s a shock to me. But I think I showed the type of back I am”, Achane said.
NFL Journalist Peter King had this to say after Achane’s Performance, “Watching De’Von Achane run it for the Dolphins Sunday, I thought: Miami doesn’t have to trade for Jonathan Taylor. And the Dolphins shouldn’t. They should use their cap and draft capital elsewhere on a talent-rich roster.”
Dolphins OL Austin Jackson gave a little insight into the role head coach Mike McDaniel has played in developing Achane this summer, “McDaniel coached him up for sure. He’s taken all the coaching and he’s been very attentive and just really elevated his game. I love to see that type of stuff out of him. It’s nice to see him in a game for the first time. That was my first time seeing him in live bullets.”
It may be just one game, and it may only be week 3, but in Achane the Dolphins have a runner capable of running away from defences and scoring on any play. The sky’s the limit and I for one can’t wait to see what this kid does next.
